Carrie welcomes your support and prayers as she carries out this important ministry for our church.

Our Secretary
Donna Roberts
(droberts@cambriabaptistchurch.org) will never forget the day in 1976 when the Rev. Robert Crawford, then pastor of Cambria Baptist Church, came to her house and asked her to serve as the church’s secretary. Donna had been a stay-at-home mom of three children – two boys and a girl. When Pastor Crawford offered her the job, “I was happy but not looking for work. I told him I would try – I didn’t know if I could do it to suit the church or not, but apparently I did,” says Donna.

The job suits Donna, too. She says she likes serving the people, the pastor, and the deacons: “I try to be helpful to everyone.”

Donna has been a member of Cambria Baptist Church since 1964. Beyond her responsibilities as secretary, she serves on the Benevolence Committee, as secretary of Women on Mission, and as chairman of the Mildred Walton Bible Study Circle. She is a member of the Dorcas Sunday School class.

Our Custodian
Wayne Pugh
treasures the people he has come to know at Cambria Baptist Church since he joined the congregation in 1961, the same year that he graduated from Christiansburg High School. When he joined the church, Cambria was still in its former building, located on Cambria Street close to the depot. Wayne worked as custodian of that older building until he graduated from Virginia Tech in 1965.

While serving in the U.S. Air Force (February 1966 – February 1969) Wayne transferred his membership to Westridge Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. When he left the Air Force, he returned to Cambria and began a 31-year career at Virginia Tech. In November 2003, he again took the job of custodian for Cambria.

Wayne’s job is part of his ministry to Cambria and supports the church’s mission to welcome all who enter its doors. “I take pride in helping keep our building clean and ready for all the various services and activities,” he says. “Perception is reality and a neat, clean appearance helps project the proper first impression.” Wayne also serves as a deacon and is on the property committee, the communion committee and the baptism committee.

Besides working and volunteering for the church, Wayne enjoys bowling, photography and spending time with his wife, Eileen, his two daughters and his grandchildren.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
